1. Introduction & Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Visiuun ("Visiuun", "I", "me", "my") collects, uses, and protects information in relation to our services, including the Visiuun website, Nekobox File Hosting, and Paster (collectively, the "Services").
Visiuun services are operated by the individual behind the Visiuun brand, based in Italy. For the purposes of data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), I am the data controller responsible for your personal data.
I am committed to protecting your privacy, minimizing data collection, and handling any collected data responsibly and transparently. If you have questions about this policy or data protection practices, please contact me at [email protected].
2. Information We Collect and Why
I adhere to the principle of data minimization, collecting only the information necessary to provide, secure, and maintain the Services. The specific information collected depends on how you interact with the Services:
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Nekobox File Content: When you upload files to Nekobox, the content of those files is stored on my servers solely to provide the file hosting and sharing functionality you request.
- Paster Content: When you submit text to Paster ("Pastes"), the content of your Paste is stored on my servers to make it accessible via its unique URL according to the access mode you select.
- Paster Password (Optional): If you choose to password-protect a Paste, the password you provide is collected to control access. It is stored in a hashed format and cannot be viewed by me.
- Contact Information (Optional): If you contact me directly via email, I will collect your email address and any information you provide in your message to respond to your inquiry.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Cookie Preferences: When you visit the Visiuun website, a necessary cookie may be set to record your consent status regarding cookies (see Section 4).
- Paster Session Data (Temporary): If you access a password-protected or age-restricted Paste on Paster, temporary session information (not linked to a user account) is used to remember that you have successfully entered the password or confirmed your age for that specific browsing session. This does not persist long-term.
- Technical Log Data: Like most websites and online services, my servers automatically collect standard technical information when you access or use the Services (especially Nekobox and Paster). This typically includes:
- Your Internet Protocol (IP) address.
- Browser type and version.
- Date and time of access.
- The specific resource requested (e.g., file ID, paste ID).
- Referring/exit pages (if applicable).
- Basic operating system information.
I do not use tracking technologies, analytics services, or engage in user profiling for advertising or marketing purposes based on your use of the core Services.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, the legal bases for collecting and using the information described above are typically:
- Necessary for the provision of Services: Processing User Content (files, pastes) and related technical data is necessary to perform the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Legitimate Interests: Processing technical log data for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention is based on my legitimate interest in maintaining secure and functional Services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Consent: Setting the cookie to store your cookie consent preference is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Legal Obligation: Processing data may be necessary to comply with legal requirements (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), as outlined in Section 5.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. As mentioned, I use cookies minimally.
- Consent Cookie: The primary cookie used is strictly necessary to remember your choices regarding cookie consent. It does not track you or collect personal information beyond your preference. Its purpose is compliance with legal requirements regarding consent.
- No Tracking/Analytics Cookies: I do not use any non-essential cookies, third-party cookies, or cookies for advertising, behavioural tracking, or analytics.
Managing Cookies
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can block or delete cookies, including the consent cookie. Please note that deleting the consent cookie will reset your preferences, and you may be asked for consent again on your next visit. Refer to your browser's help documentation for details.
5. How We Use and Protect Your Information
Your information is used solely for the purposes outlined in Section 2:
- To operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionality of the Services (e.g., storing and serving files/pastes).
- To secure the Services, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- To respond to your inquiries if you contact me.
- To comply with legal obligations (see Section 6).
I implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the information I process from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include secure server infrastructure, encryption (HTTPS for data in transit), access controls, and efforts towards regular security assessments. However, please be aware that no internet transmission or electronic storage method is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security, especially given the resources available to an individual operator.
6. Disclosure of Information & Legal Compliance
I do not share, sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
I may disclose stored information (including files/pastes and technical log data) if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if I have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Visiuun, my users, or the public.
- Detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
- Enforce my Terms of Service.
Where legally permissible and feasible, I will attempt to notify users of such legally compelled disclosure requests, unless prohibited by law or the terms of the legal process, or in urgent circumstances.
7. Data Retention
I retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, provide the Services, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
- Nekobox Files & Paster Pastes: Stored until removed by the user (if feature exists), removed according to our Terms of Service (e.g., violations, inactivity), or as part of periodic system cleanup. No guarantee of indefinite storage is provided; please maintain your own backups.
- Technical Log Data (including IP Addresses): Retained only for a limited period necessary for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention (typically weeks or months, not years), after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.
- Cookie Consent Preference: Retained for the duration specified when consent was given (e.g., 1 year), or until cookies are cleared.
- Contact Emails: Retained as long as necessary to address your inquiry and for record-keeping purposes.
8. Your Data Protection Rights (EEA/GDPR)
If GDPR applies to the processing of your personal data, you have certain rights regarding that data. Subject to legal limitations and verification, these may include:
- Right to Access: Request access to the personal data I hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten'): Request deletion of your personal data under certain conditions.
- Right to Restriction of Processing: Request limitation of how I process your personal data under certain conditions.
- Right to Data Portability: Request transfer of your personal data to you or a third party in a structured, machine-readable format (may have limited applicability here due to data type).
- Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests, under certain conditions.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (primarily for the consent cookie).
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
Please note that the availability of these rights depends on the specific processing activity and the applicable legal basis. Given the nature of the Services (often pseudonymous use, limited data collection), exercising some rights (like erasure or access related to specific files/pastes) may require you to provide identifying information (like the specific URL) to locate the relevant data.
Exercising Your Rights
To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at [email protected]. I may need to request specific information from you to help confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. I will respond to legitimate requests within the timeframe required by law (typically one month).
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold depending on the jurisdiction). I do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If I become aware that I have collected personal data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, I will take steps to remove that information.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in my practices, the Services, or legal requirements. I will post any changes on this page and update the "Effective Date" and "Last Updated" date at the top. For significant changes, I may provide more prominent notice (e.g., a banner on the website). I encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
11. Contact Us
