Reply deboosting: why your replies are hidden behind "Show more replies"
Your replies exist, but X ranks them at the bottom or hides them behind an extra click. How X ranks replies and how to get back to the top.
Reply deboosting means your replies are still in the thread, but X ranks them below everyone else or hides them behind "Show more replies", "Show additional replies" or a "probable spam" section. Most readers never click those, so your reply is effectively invisible.
How replies are ranked
X sorts replies by predicted quality. Signals that push a reply up include the original author replying back, likes from people in the conversation, and the replier's own reputation. Signals that push it down include being muted, blocked or reported, and the reply looking like spam. X Premium subscribers also get prioritized ranking in replies, which pushes non-subscribers lower in busy threads.
How FSB tests it
FSB checks where a recent reply from the account appears in its thread from a logged-out view, and whether it sits in the hidden section.
How to fix it
- Reply less often and only where you add something.
- Avoid copy-paste replies, links and hashtags in replies.
- Reply in conversations where people know you. A reply the author answers is a strong positive signal.
- Give it a few days of normal activity and re-check.
